Everton FC’s sporting director, Kevin Thelwell, has expressed his delight at securing a season-long loan deal for Chelsea forward Armando Broja. The 22-year-old completed his move to Goodison Park in the early hours of Saturday morning, following a failed transfer to Ipswich Town.

Thelwell believes Broja’s signing will strengthen Everton’s attacking options, despite the forward currently being sidelined with a foot injury. The club has inserted a clause into the deal, ensuring they will not pay for Broja’s services until he is available for selection.

“Having monitored Armando’s journey for a number of years, we’re very pleased to have been able to bring him to the club,” said Thelwell. “Armando is still a young player who has already built up some impressive experience but someone we also feel has lots more potential to be unlocked.”

Broja’s addition follows the signing of Orel Mangala from Lyon, making him Everton’s second deadline-day signing. The club is eager to get Broja fit and ready for selection, with his debut expected in October.

This transfer deal highlights Everton’s commitment to strengthening their squad and unlocking the potential of young players like Broja. Despite the injury setback, the club is optimistic about Broja’s future contributions to the team.
